HealthPartners joins OCDC
The Overseas Cooperative Development Council welcomes HealthPartners as a new member of the organizations. HealthPartners joins eight other member organizations committed to championing, advocating and promoting effective international cooperative development.
HealthPartners is an independent, private, member-owned and democratically governed enterprise in the U.S., created with equity financed by members who invest in order to benefit through their patronage. HealthPartners’ family of health-care companies serves 1.36 million members and provides care to over 500,000 patients in a care-delivery system that includes 70 clinics and three hospitals. As part of its global social responsibility, HealthPartners has been active in international development. Since 1997, it has linked a community-owned, self-sustaining health cooperative model to preventive health and health systems to strengthen interventions for improved health outcomes.
Paul Hazen, OCDC executive director, said, “HealthPartners brings a wealth of health-care industry experience to OCDC and to low-income, developing countries, and we look forward to building partnerships in this sector among our members.”
