OCDC’s International Cooperative Research Group (ICRG) and The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) held an exciting session on February 14, 2024 that served as Part II of ICRG/CUK’s presentation of findings of their gender study. This past November, during Part I we focused on issues of women’s financial inclusion in Kenya, including comparison of formal (Savings and Credit Cooperatives – SACCOs) and informal structures (Chamas), and the benefits each one offers to women. During the Part II session, we focused on social network analysis which offers a broader picture of why women join either structure and how social support builds their confidence and courage and contributes to financial inclusion.
