Widman’s paper contributes to our understanding of resiliency by establishing that investing in one’s capital (human, social, financial, physical, natural) provides stability, which confers longevity, which demonstrates organizational resiliency. Cooperatives, due to the nature of their governance and operations, are more willing than others to do so, and therefore tend to be more stable and more long lived.
