Our Team
Meghan R. Fitzgerald is a social science researcher with international experience in the Arab world, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
Fitzgerald holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy and an MPH in Global Health from Oregon State University, where she focused on the impact of the Israeli occupation on intimate partner violence and access to services among women in Palestine.
While she is interested in gender, health and development more broadly, her research has focused on women’s health and gender-based violence. She has worked with nonprofits conducting research on maternal and child health issues for female sex workers globally and completed an internship with UNRWA in Jordan. Additionally, Fitzgerald serves on the Board of Directors for international nonprofits and organizations providing resources to immigrants. She has several years of experience in public health program administration and evaluation including sexual violence prevention, and is a certified yoga instructor. She has used her passion for teaching yoga to lead classes for women immigrants, providing a tool for stress-reduction and mindfulness.
Fitzgerald has presented at conferences and published in peer reviewed journals; she was the recipient of the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff) from The Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research as well as the Global Consciousness Award from Oregon State University. She has a working knowledge of French and Arabic.
